    Default So any ideas?

I have an independent study in one of my majors (Philosophy) and this entails having to write about 30 pages of material but I need some ideas. I had in mind something to do with animal keeping ethics or something to that effect but I can figure up something that is specific enough to focus on to allow myself to elaborate throughout the paper. Any ideas or other suggestions that might make an interesting topic in relation to philosophy and the hobby?

I wrote a paper in high school that was Pro Death Penalty and used my rat breeding operation for my reptiles as an example of how violent baby-killing and biting rats were fed off and calm/good parenting rats were kept for breeding and in only a few generations there was practically no violence in the population. My teacher in that class was a former Nun, and although she did not believe in the death penalty, she said it was a very compelling argument for it.

ya sounds a bit strained for a philosophy paper but sounds interesting all the same. I was think more on the lines of the ethics of keeping animals because lets face it ... we take animals out of their natural habitat and place them in an artificial one that is either a plastic tub just big enough for them not to be in pain or in a enclosure that we set up the way we like and for our own aesthetic pleasure. Some people are so uneducated about animals they try to keep they try to keep snakes warm with towels and this would draw the stores/people who sold them the animal into question because the education of the buyer I think is the responsibility of the one selling the animal. I am not saying, however, that the one selling is fully responsible because the buyer should educate themselves before taking on the responsibility of another life.

    Maybe CBB vs. WC?

That is where I would go with it. Very open topic with plenty of room to explore.

    Maurice Pudlo
Wanted: Anolis carolensis - axanthic or yellow-pase (blue/yellow-phase green anole) Anolis vermiculatus (cuban stream anole), Anolis allisoni (allison's anole), Anolis bimaculatus (antigua anole), Anolis bartschi (western cliff anole), Lepidophyma flavimaculatum (yellow-spotted tropical night lizard)

That is an idea I was wanting to explore but I will need to do some research. The problem with that is that one migh argue that is you have CBB then you still had to start from somewhere and that would have been with wc but that would be a weak arguement but one I will bring up in the paper since it has to be 30ish pgs
